But how can people know which nonprofits are trustworthy, acting ethically and accountably? The Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations' Standards for Excellence program is designed to promote excellence and integrity in nonprofit management. Organizations voluntarily participate by subjecting their internal practices to a rigorous "ethics check-up." If certified, they are granted permission to proudly display the Seal of Excellence, a symbol of trust.
